What do Real Estate Virtual Assistants do?

Firstly, you should know what a VA is. A Virtual assistant is someone who offers their services to someone else online.

And there are TONS of potential services you can offer.

(If you want a fantastic comprehensive list, you have to download this list of 275+ services VA’s can offer. It’s fantastic and full of awesome ideas.)

First off, if you are not familiar with what a real estate virtual assistant is. Let’s go over some of the basics.

Some of the tasks that a real estate VA does includes:

  • Social media management
  • Email management
  • Transaction coordinating
  • List coordinating
  • Email campaign management
  • Finding leads
  • Manage their calendar
  • Scheduling open houses
  • + a ton more

Some of these tasks are straight forward and easy to learn. However, some of the other tasks definitely take a special set of skills.

Not everyone can just throw together an effective email campaign, which helps convert leads into customers. Nor does everyone know how to do social media management effectively.

In fact, it’s these specialized skills that make a virtual real estate assistant so valuable.

How much Do Real Estate VA’s Make?

According to Pro REA staffing, the average salary for the Real Estate Assistants that they placed made an average of $60,000 a year.

Of course, there are some things she mentions that could affect that salary price, like the cost of living in your area and the level of the real estate agency you are working with.

You can find out a little more about the fluctuating costs in their video below.

I’m also going to note that I’m pretty sure this agency is for placing assistants in physical locations, so these numbers may differ from Virtual Assistants.

What Should You Charge as a Virtual Assistant

Once you know how to perform the skills we talked about above well, you’ll be able to charge a higher price for your services.

Virtual assistants can make anywhere between $25-$100 an hour.

Of course, what you can charge is totally dependant on the value you bring. I can’t imagine a real estate agent willingly paying their VA $100 an hour for simple transaction coordination.

But this is why you learn to do the higher value skills and market yourself to people who know what those services are worth.

If this all seems or feels overwhelming, I suggest starting with one skill. Hire yourself out with that one skill and start learning another.

Once you’re in the industry, it becomes more intuitive to know what skills you should be focusing on, especially as a freelance virtual assistant.

How to Become A Virtual Real Estate Agent

Ok, so now we know what virtual real estate agents do and what they make. But how do you become one?

Since we already went over the typical skills a Real Estate VA has, that should be your starting point.

Learn how to do the things that make you valuable.

Then learn to market yourself well. This will help you find your first client as a VA.

They even have specialized classes that help you figure out how to get your foot in the door.

One of the top courses out there is the Horkey Handbooks “Real Estate for Virtual Assistant Course.

It was developed by a real estate agent and his virtual assistant to help others navigate the waters of becoming a real estate VA.

I personally took their 30 days or less to VA success a few years ago and learned so much about starting my own business.

Do I Have to Take a Course to Become a Real Estate VA?

No. You don’t.

I’m pretty sure you could do some research and teach yourself to do a lot of the skills on the list.

But there is so much to running a business that it can feel overwhelming, which usually brings any kind of progress to a halt.

A course just helps bring everything together quickly and gives you a systemic, step by step approach to breaking into the business.

I am the kind of person who needs this type of structure. I thrive when road maps are involved and I can just carry out the steps.

Otherwise, everything kind of feels like a jumbled mess to me and I feel like I’m making things way more complicated than they need to be.
